Welcome to the Mental Illness Reform Movement Curriculum Resource Guide
Welcome to the Mental Illness Reform Movement Curriculum Resource Guide. This resource is designed to shed light on an often overlooked part of American History. Inside you will find links to primary documents as well as secondary sources, curriculum materials, research websites, and visual aides to aide your instruction on such an important topic. Topics range from specific individuals involved in the movement to evidence as to why a reform was needed. Students are rarely educated on the plight of mental illness, both historical and contemporary issues, and it is often assumed that "no news is good news." This is a topic, though rarely covered in depth, that students should be well aware of. In a push to create more inclusive and accepting individuals, this history of mental illness in this country should not be overlooked in the classroom.
