Above you can see a photograph from a 19th century insane asylum. "Patients" were often subjected to strange methods of treatment, many of which lacked any sort of medical or scientific backing. In the above picture, the patients are wrapped and confined in wet sheets with towels over their faces and laid out neatly in their beds. This is just one of the many terrible treatments that asylums used to issue due to a lack of understanding.
