Below is a link to a lesson plan for high school students. This lesson plan seeks to educate students on who Dorothea Dix was, how treatment of the mentally ill changed over the 19th century, and whether or not there is still work to do today. Students will analyze primary sources and watch a PBS documentary to gather information.
